An Artist Talks Petrov Ahner 04.11.2010, Tacheles
This exhibiton states and shows how resistent a place like the Tacheles Arthouse can be.
"We create art from destruction, we recreate from nothing" says Petrov.
The long fight the Tacheles arthouse is experiencing at the moment, inspires artists to create and involve themselves into new directions.
Petrov has also been collaborating with performance artist Miriam Wuttke and describes these new aspects of his works as "very exciting and new". His experience from the past of course, is a ground for his research, but he is constantly trying to obtain a new vision of the portrait, or of the performance, and helps photography begin it's artistic function, and not only be a documentation of someone else's work, or performance. The photography itself becomes an artwork.
He is preparing his next exhibition a series of portraits done in France of the illegal immigrants, who joined to fight for their right to stay and work in France. We were lucky to see a preview projection of beautiful individuals dignified by his camera. The status of the immigrant is viewed from a different angle and Petrov intentionaly took these portraits to make these immigrants shine and show their humanity. The portrait has always had a social function in our society, people of power and high social classes have had portraits done by famous artists, painters and photographers.
Here Petrov stands by a social group that is look down upon and helps the viewer become aware of a contemporary social situation.
He is very active with the " i support tacheles ".
After starting out in fashion photography in Munich and Miami, I moved to Paris in 1994, where I continued my fashion works and at the same time started out in portrait and reportage photography. During the years, the commitment for cultural, political and social focal points took on a greater significance.
In 2009, I moved to Berlin.
Current projects vary between collaborations with visual artists (exhibition-, performance- and installation photography), comissioned work and dedicated photography with a sociopolitical background.
The focus of the work is portrait photography.

An Artist Talks with Djane Butterfly 21.10.2010, Tacheles
She discovered her passion for music during a trip to India in great parties that she went to. Alone in Hamburg, she first practised playing and spinning for two years.Later she has played in many famous clubs and travelled through Europe.
In Berlin she has spinned in Trésor, Matrix and Kit Kat, among other places, and has a great experience of the 90' club scene.
After giving birth to her child, she studied sounddesign and started to produce tracks herself, and is now working currently on her third album. She collaborates with an American singer living in New York, who records at the moment takes for her new productions. And also with her partner, Ken Mutant, an Sweedish singer and producer, who often performs live with her.
She decided to take a manager, to promote her career, he is searching for a label and for places to play in the future. She is invited next season to play in the Middle East, and dreams of playing her music around the world.
She is ambitious and hard working, and has experienced also of difficulties in Berlin with her past label, that did not promote her work.
Butterfly realizes therefor how important the label and contract you have can be...
She is now doing also photographic collage works, and helps develop the new space called "The Office", were she is Djane resident on sundays.
She plans to schedule some afterhour parties and hopes to play more freely her style. She likes Free style as much as faster beats, but there will be possibilities to hear all sorts of different new sounds, that she will share with us, come by and check it out yourselves!!!

And yet there is a special solidarity between these artists, precisely because of those particular political characteristics.

Clearly there is a social and political view in the process but, Neukoelnimport does not claim to be from any specific political party. Alejandra and Jana are more interested in the human side of the relationship with artists, and support the self-devellopment and artistic projects.

An Artist Talks September 30th 2010, Amaru Cholango
What is good and what is bad, what is true and what is a lie, what is religion what is not... This continuous dialogue is taken, seriously, like a mission, to educate and give awareness to the young and old generations, who have lost belief and contact to the elements of nature surrounding us.
His works are both mystical and political, on each level, he shows the behaviour of mankind, his attitude towards nature and the destruction he causes to civilisation with the excuse of industrial devellopement.

An Artist Talks September 16th 2010, Volker Witte
Volker Witte began to paint at the age of 32 encouraged by his girl friend, with whom he discovers his passion and then started to study and experiment. Today he is 59 years old, and he still has the same fresh attitude towards his painting, and trusts his feelings to go through the process of creating fantastic imaginary landscapes.
He has travelled to Greece many a times, and recalls particularly the strong light and intensity of colours during those stays.
His work was naturally influence by these trips, and the pallette of colours changed from coloured grey to vibrant yellows and oranges. He only uses his inner vision and lise places, do not exist, although you could almost give a name these moutains and magical sun sets.
You cant still have the chance to see a collection of his earlier works, that are still available , in his studio on the 4th floor of the Tacheles Art house. He explores, in these series characters, either female or male, and the composition and colours are very matured and balanced, and may remind you of masters like Picasso and Cézanne.
He has also a great collection of black and white drawings, which are more abstract and geometrical. He places them together on his wall and they look like some sort of pattern, or an unknow hieroglyph type of writing. He produces many works, and is constantly working, he has become very successfull, since he has moved into the Tacheles art house, and talks with alot of greatfullness about this space.

An Artist Talks 26st of August 2010 Resa Mashoodi
Resa Mashoodi has a desire to trespass and experience new alleys. He takes a close look at the female condition and it's evolution. Of course, the female figure is always a passion in his paintings, as he continuously represents in different situation women. Fascination for the unknown, love and desire, all mix together, give a strong impression to the viewer. The power of these works lies in the secret of unspoken words. Unexpected objects are placed carefully inside “her” mouth, “she” tries to teach us a lesson. Leading once again into a whole story, these intense series strangely open up something deep inside, beyond prejudice and misconception.
He likes also to express himself through music. Thus has he produced an experimental album, with deep noises and hypnotic sounds, alike a helicopter sometimes flying over your head.
Together strength and power come again together for the pleasure and excitement of our ears.

An Artist Talks 15th of July 2010, Barbara Fragogna
Many paintings concentrate on the interaction between the body and the mind, how they influence each other, and in what form? How human desires effect the development of the body, and construct it and bring it to suffer or to pleasure? These themes are explored with great talent and dedication.
