An Artist Talks 15th of July 2010, Barbara Fragogna

Barbara Fragogna, is a painter and the curator of the gallery from the Art house Tacheles, she has recently opened a project space, The sinne die Project room.
Barbara is Italian and collaborates often with Italian artists, that she introduces to Berlin, in her space. Their are currently exchanges of artists going on between the Gallery Abnormals and her many contacts from Venice.

Her painting explores the  female body in a very strong way, and she likes mostly to introduce suprising unexpected objects or animals into her compositions. Her colours are very well balanced between vibrant and deep, giving an unusual classical touch, to these very extravagant contemporary bodies. She likes to shock the viewer and awake him from the boredom of life and shows us maybe in a metaphorical way, how complicated living can be.

Many paintings concentrate on the  interaction between  the body and the mind, how they influence each other, and in what form? How human desires effect the development of the body, and construct it and bring it to suffer or to pleasure? These themes are explored with great talent and dedication.
