An Artist Talks with Andreas Helfer, 09.12.2010.

Andreas Helfer interviewed at Tacheles , 09.12.2010, Berlin

It was a nice experience to spend time with Andreas Helfer, and discover how simple and easy, he can be.
The collective exhibition he took part in "Harder but still easy", in the Künstlerhaus Bethanien, you could feel his maturity and a has very opened minded way of communicating with artists and viewers around him.
Andreas is at the head of the Atelierhof Kreuzberg, a project that he built with the city of Berlin and is now managing 50 artists studio and an exhibition space. There are very interesting exhibitions to see, please take a little time to go and have a look, at the moment exhibition from artist Alex Winter, "Drawing view".

Andreas spends a lot of time experimenting new directions in his works and then gathers through these steps material to perform new paintings. He works with the same process as Action Painting, and needs time to reflect in between creating, in order to produce more. The result is always a very well balanced minimalism with a refreshing palette of luminous colours. Please take a little tour on his website and check his Atelierhof Kreuzberg activities.
